Pet Cams VNC Information
VNC Installation Instructions

For users that do not wish to use Active-X, we have established a VNC link as an alternative.

So what is VNC?  VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing.  It is remote access software which allows you to view and fully interact with our remote computer that is viewing the Pet Cams.

Using VNC you can log into that computer and view the Pet Cams also.

Instructions:

To start using VNC, you must have the VNC Viewer program on your computer. We have provided a copy of this program for your Pet Cam viewing.

Start your Pet-Cam experience by clicking on the VNC camera button:

This will start the VNC viewer download process for you. A security warning information box will pop up asking you if you would like to Run (Open) as shown below:

This is a normal response from your computer and is simply intended as a reminder to check what you are downloading.  Notice in the example above, the information box is telling you

  • The Name of the file: Lhah_pet_cams.exe
  • The Type and size of the file: An Application program
  • The Location of the file: Lhah.com (our server at Laguna Hills Animal Hospital)

This information lets you know the application file is safely coming from our servers to your computer so go ahead and click on the RUN (Open) button.

A second security warning information box may pop up as shown below:

This information box is also normal and is actually letting you know who made the VNC View program.  As shown above the information box gives you the name of the application, VNC Viewer Free Edition and the publisher (developer) of the program is RealVNC Ltd.

Go ahead and click on the RUN (Open) button and the Viewer program will start.

Once the VNC viewer has started it only needs two pieces of information from you.

First is the Server Number.  Type in the box 68.106.76.197 as shown below:

This is the Internet address of our Pet Cam server.  The dots are important so make sure to enter the server number of 68.106.76.197 as shown.

Next is optional, but we recommend that you click on the Options button to view the Colour & Encoding section as shown below:

Click on the FULL Colour Level to provide you a natural looking view of your pet.

Click OK and the Options box will close. Click OK at the VNC viewer box.

You will now be prompted for the password, this is the second piece of information.
Enter the word   pets   in the password box and you will be able to view your pet.  Remember the password is case sensitive so please enter it as shown in lower case.

FAQs:

Some of our clients have asked: "Can I save the VNC view program?"

The answer is absolutely!  The VNC Viewer is free and you are welcome to keep a copy. Simply click on the SAVE button in the first information box and save the program.

As a matter of fact, if you save the VNC Viewer to your computers Desk Top, then you no longer need to down load it from our server each time you use it.

Then, whenerver your computer is connected to the Internet, simply click the VNC icon on your Desk Top and you can view your pet whenever you wish. You don't even need to use your browser.  Its that simple.
